Discussion & Documentation
The Foos Chart compiled by Igor Pleve records Jacob Foos, farmer from Pfalz, and his wife Christina arrived in Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the ship Mercury. The 1767 census of Dietel records an orphaned child of Jacob Foos, Anna Margaretha, 9, Lutheran, arriving in Dietel on 1 July 1767 and living in the household of Wendel Brauchbacher.

The Kirchenbuch Evangelische Kirche Heimkirchen, 1665-1949, "den 14 April wurde Wilhelm Fusz von Heimkirchen unt Elisabetha seine ehliche Hausfrau ein Shnlein getauftt, Nahme Johann Jacob. Gev: Joh. Jacob Herberth, Schullm...zu Heimkirchen; Jacob Stetzenbach aus der Steinmühl; Cath. Godparents: Johann Jacob Herberth, schoolmaster (?) in Heimkirchen; Jacob Stetzenbach from the Stein/stone mill; Catharina Elisabetha Hohenberger from Niederkirchen]. The marriage of Johann Jacob Foos and Maria Christina Stetzenbach is recorded there on 29 April 1749.

Descendants of this Foos family also settled in Merkel.
