Industry
Among the Volga Germans were prominent industrialists. The Schmidt, Reineke and Borel families were among the most prominent, controlling the sarpinka industry in the Volga German region.

Borell Mill


Postcard of a Volga German steam sawmill for the manufacture of wood products. The mill was owned by the brothers K., E. and F. Bauer of Sarepta, Saratov.


Remains of the Hergert mill in Volgograd (Stalingrad). This stands as part of the memorial to the battle of Stalingrad during WWII.
