Concordia University Bell Tower on the Campus Green
      In celebration of 250th Anniversaries of the founding of the first Volga German colonies, the Center for Volga German Studies at Concordia University is hosting a series of programs in conjunction with the Deutschesfest being held in Odessa, Washington, 18-20 September 2015.

      The public is invited to attend and there is no fee to attend any of the CVGS programs outlined below.

Location

The CVGS will have a tent space in the street fair area of the Deutschesfest, just off Main Street.

The CVGS is sponsoring a float for the parade on Saturday morning at 10:00.

All CVGS programs (below) will be held in the historic St. Matthew's Congregational Church building on the corner of Alder & 4th.

Genealogical Research

      Doris Evans of Almira, Washington, is a noted genealogical researcher from Central Washington. Throughout the Deutschesfest, Doris will be available to answer questions and share information on the Germans from Russia. She will be available in the historic St. Matthew's Congregational Church for drop-in genealogical consultations during the following times:
            Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
            Saturday, Noon - 6:00 p.m.
            Sunday, Noon - 4:00 p.m.

Book Signing

      On Saturday (from 11:30 - 1:00), author Dr. Richard Scheuerman of Seattle Pacific University will be available in the CVGS tent to sign his latest book Harvest Heritage: Agricultural Origins and Heirloom Crops of the Pacific Northwest, published in 2014 by the WSU Press. He will also sign copies of the accompanying Harvest Home cookbook. Both books will be available for purchase at the tent.
