250th Anniversary
of the Founding of Dobrinka,
the First Volga German Colony

Dobrinka, the first Volga German colony, was founded on 29 June 1764. This year marks the 250th Anniversary of that founding, and the Center for Volga German Studies at Concordia University is hosting a 2-day conference in celebration of this anniversary!

The public is invited to attend.


Early Registration is $70 (registration on or before June 23).
Onsite Registration is $85 (registration after June 23).
Child Registration is $20 (age 12 & younger, register any time).

Registration includes your choice of sessions on both days and a hot German lunch each day.

To register & pay by check, print the Registration Form and mail it in with your check. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by the dates above in order to qualify for a specific rate.


All sessions will be held at the Our Lady of LaVang Parish Education Center, 5404 NE Alameda Dr., Portland, Oregon. *** NOTE: The Education Center is not completely wheelchair accessible; some sessions will be held in rooms that will require going up/down 10 shallow steps. ***
Conference Schedule

Please check out the Conference Schedule. Some sessions will be presented more than once to enable more attendees to take advantage of the programs that are of interest to them.

Lunch is included with registration and will be served each day by the German Ladies Aid Society in the adjacent facilities of the German American Society, 5626 NE Alameda Dr., Portland, Oregon. This facility is completely wheelchair accessible.
Hotel Accommodations

Hotel: Special $89 rate is available at the Radisson Hotel, 6233 NE 78th Court, Portland, Oregon 97218 (2.7 miles from Our Lady of LaVang). To make a reservation, call 1-800-994-7878 and ask for the Concordia University rate.
Genealogical Research

Before and after the conference (on Thursday & Sunday), there will be opportunities to do genealogical research at the Center for Volga German Studies on the campus of Concordia University (2800 NE Liberty St., Portland, Oregon). Trained research volunteers will be available to help with research on Thursday, June 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 29, from noon to 5:00 p.m.
